Karensoft targets small and mid-sized companies
Star Bizweek, Saturday, June 11, 2005
KARENSOFT Technology Bhd is targeting its enterprise resources planning (ERP) software at small and medium-sized companies with a budget of between RM60,000 and RM100,000 for such applications.
“We want to target this group, which comes under tier three category, because we understand their needs very well,'' executive chairman and chief executive officer Chee Chong Hwa said. “This makes it easier for us to incorporate into the software the necessary features.''
“We released the mini-ERP software, which takes only 10 days to implement, in April targeting specifically the small and medium companies,” he said after the company's AGM yesterday.
Chee said Karensoft would continue to develop such mini-ERP software for its tier-three customers.
“By 2006, we want to increase the sales contribution from tier-three customers to 50% of revenue,'' he said. “This year we expect sales contribution from our tier-three customers to be about 25% of group revenue.”
Last year Karensoft derived about 90% of its business from tier-two customers, which have a budget of between RM100,000 and RM500,000 for ERP software.
According to Chee, it takes about one to two years to implement ERP applications tier-two customers because their needs are complex and the features of the software took a long time to customise.
