Karensoft targets 80 percent sales from new software
Technology Business Review, December, 2004
Karensoft Technology Berhad has set a
target of RM12 million or 80 percent of
the group's revenue from sales of its
new ExecSuite software for the financial
year ended December 31st 2005. Then software
will be marketed mainly to the local small
and medium-sized industries (SMIs).
Karensoft is trying to capture at least
5 to 10 percent of the local market share
in a market which is estimated to be worth
RM400 million. Execsuite is an alternative
bundle software but compatible to Microsoft
products in PCs. The suite comprises of
its own word processor, spreadsheet, PDF
writer, web browser and administrative
tools.
The targeted revenue does not include potential sales from overseas markets.
Negotiations are on-going and Karensoft hopes to start exporting overseas in the first
quarter of 2005. Among the countries targeted for the product are Singapore, Hong Kong,
Australia, the Philippines, Pakistan, India and the Middle-East. CEO, Chee Chong Hwa
says that Karensoft's Extended Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP2) business would be
looking for bigger jobs that exceed RM500,000 each, mostly in the higher-end market.
