FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
KarenSoft and Oriental Daily to Encourage SMIs/SMEs to Adopt ERP2
in Light of the AFTA Challenges
Kuala Lumpur - 13 August 2004 - Just a month after KarenSoft introduced its ERP2 (Extended Enterprise Resources Planning) solution for the furniture industry through a partnership with Malaysian Furniture Entrepreneur Association (MFEA), KarenSoft is set to promote its ERP2 suite to the local SMIs/SMEs in a co-sponsor signing agreement ceremony with Oriental Daily here today.
In the co-sponsor signing agreement ceremony between KarenSoft and Oriental Daily, KarenSoft was represented by its Executive Chairman/CEO, Mr. Chee Chong Hwa while Mr. Ko Keak Hock, Deputy Editor In Chief, signed on behalf of Oriental Daily.
As part of the sponsorship effort, KarenSoft and Oriental Daily will jointly organised a seminar to the SMIs/SMEs on 19 August 2004, aims to raise the local SMIs'/SMEs' awareness on the need to automate their businesses as a means to remain competitive in the light of AFTA as well as to the financial assistance available to them in this ICT adoption.
Mr. Ko said the SMIs/SMEs must improve their production, operation and quality management systems to stay competitive in the face of globalisation and trade liberalisation in the new economy. Being low-cost producers was never an adequate protection against competition from neighbouring countries.
Chee says, "The Soft Loan for ICT (SLICT) is important to the SMIs/SMEs to enable them to afford the adoption of ERP2 system in order to compete effectively globally. The SLICT scheme could buffer the huge one-off capital investment outlay required by the SMIs/SMEs instead they could made the repayment up to five years period with a minimum interest rates of 3% per annum".
He added that the adoption of the cost-effective KarenSoft ERP2 encourages and enforces enterprise-wide integration, avoids work duplication, thus reducing overall labour costs; promotes timely and quality delivery to customers; lowers inventory costs and ultimately promotes competitiveness via lower costs and improving customer satisfaction. The benefits of the KarenSoft ERP2 would definitely out-weight the total cost of ownership of the system.
