KarenSoft Collaborates with MIGHT
METEOR to Train Advance Manufacturing
SMEs
Putrajaya - 12 December 2003 - Mesdaq-listed
company KarenSoft Technology Berhad is
set to assist MIGHT- METEOR Advance Manufacturing
Sdn Bhd (MMAM) to develop suitable modules
for the promotion and training needs of
the Malaysian Small and Medium Enterprises
(SMEs) involved in advance manufacturing
with the signing of a memorandum of understanding
between both parties today.
MMAM was represented by its Chairman,
Y. Bhg Tan Sri Datuk Dr Ahmad Zaharudin
Idrus while KarenSoft Chief Executive
Officer, Mr Chee Chong Hwa signed on behalf
of KarenSoft.
As a homegrown ERP2 (Extended Enterprise
Resources Planning) provider, KarenSoft
will provide hardware and software besides
assisting MMAM to develop suitable modules
for the promotion and training needs of
SMEs with the setting up of a dedicated
KarenSoft-AMI Lab. [AMI or Advanced Manufacturing
Institute is a knowledge centre under
MMAM which develops human resources via
training and educational programmes in
advance manufacturing.]
This collaboration will commence in January
next year with the AMI-KarenSoft Extended
Enterprise Resources Planning (ERP2) Certification
Programme specially structured for ERP
professionals.
Chee says, "The collaboration between
both MMAM and KarenSoft will bring tremendous
benefits in the effort to promote e-Manufacturing
technologies particularly to SMEs and
the manufacturing industry in Malaysia."
This move, says Chee, to introduce KarenSoft
ERP2 to SMEs in the advance manufacturing
industry comes at the right time since
KarenSoft has always encouraged technological
awareness, adoption and implementation
among SMEs as harnessing the right technology
ensures SMEs stay efficient and competitive.
Using KarenSoft ERP2, local SMEs should
be able to drive manufacturing costs lower
since KarenSoft ERP2 assists by improving
and ultimately automating many internal
manufacturing processes. As a whole, the
KarenSoft ERP2 encourages and enforces
integration, avoids work duplication,
thus reducing overall labour costs and
in the end, promotes SME competitiveness.
MMAM is a joint venture company between
MIGHT (Malaysian Industry-Government Group
for High Technology) and METEOR (Multimedia
Technology Enhancement Operations Sdn
Bhd). It provides training and education
programmes on advance manufacturing technology,
promotes advance manufacturing technologies
through seminars and workshops and provides
technology management, knowledge transfer
and advisory services and R&D facilities
and services to Malaysian SMEs.
